UNDERSTANDING COMICS THE INVISIBLE ART

Comics are all around us, and this I did not know. To be honest, I was one of those people who beleived that comics were simply just the funny pages in the Sunday paper I would read with my brother every Sunday after church. Now that I know the definition of "comics" it makes it clear that they are everywhere. They are found in churches, the photobooths in the mall, even the safety packets in the pockets of your seat in an airplane. What I found to be an extremely interesting is the point McCloud brought up about what the definition DIDN'T say. It doesn't restrict you from necessarily just talking about superheroes and the bad guys. It allows you to expand and bring up religious, political, or historical aspects and still make it into a comic. Only one chapter in the book, and I've already learned a lot about comics that I didn't know before.
