In Chapter 6 the guide talks about writing to inform. The first thing I thought of was the newspaper of magazines of today. That is basically it writing to tell someone about the current events that have been taking place in our culture and those across the world. Others would argue that any type of writing is informative, and they are right. Stories are informative telling the events or actions that a character or city under goes. Before writing to inform the best thing to do in any writing situation is to recognize or determine the audience you are writing to. Conforming your writing to your audience is key in whether or not you are informing them. For example informing a farmer about the newest computer technology might not have the same effect if you were informing him of say the latest harvesting products.
In Chapter 10 the guide talks about writing to explain causes and effects. Cause and effect pieces have a lot of thinking behind them. When I write cause and effect I think the best aproach to it is taking a statment or a claim and figure out why it happened. For example why do my brother and I love the game of football so much? I played football the whole time i attened high school and my brother is playing now as a sophomore now. It is a bond that gives us things to talk about. Both of us know how the game is played and what troubles can rise durring a season. From the other side it give you a reason to hit someone with out being punished. Last the writing processes Invention, Oranizing your ideas and details, Revising , and Working with peers. Are great ways to improve what ever writing style that comes about.
