THE IMPACT OF WORDS

take the word

cunt

for example.

i dont need to explain what we all know this to be refferred to but...

1. its a derogatory word used to describe women that are not liked

2. it is thought of as the worst and ugliest english word

3. it is the part of the sheath where the sword enters, that opening is known as the cunt

(knowing that should help those to understand why it is used to describe women only)

The most common and used form of communication is talking.

without talking to one another we would have to sign or write or not communicate.

(not that im saying those are the only forms of communication, the ways are endless, but lets be honest and admit that speaking, talking, yelling, screaming, crying, and so on are the most popular forms of communication, we are verbal beings)

Talking is not a modern thing but our way of talking has definitely come a long way. Over the years we've basically slowly but surely thrown out respect and politeness in our verbal communications. Our vocanulary has grown exponentially and our use of words have changed. One word may have 10+ meanings. We've created hybrid languages and cross-hybrid languages, we use slang, we pretty make up new words EVERY DAY. this makes me wonder how the hell we understand each other?

Talking is made possible by the use of words .

i could say sentences, statements, accusations, blah blah blah

BUT it all comes down to the words we string together to communicate.

I think we all know it but we dont really pay attention to how much words impact our lives. they are like living beings that carry on forever. words never die! once we put them out there, theres no going back, theres no re-write. they cause wars, break up families, kill, and they might not have even had that intention.

Words can imply, suggest, cause, create, promote, support, deny, hurt, help, etc.

not only have we practically outlawed words, we've changed and morphed words so that we are more comfortable saying them. so that we are more comfortable hearing them too. like the word homosexual

people didnt like hearing or saying "sex" soo they dropped that and started saying homo

but not too long after that word too became uncomfortable and implied waayyyy too much so we dropped the "ho"

now when people say mo like "dont waste your time he's a mo" its a known thing that they mean HOMOSEXUAL

Jesse helped me out by giving me these videos. The first is George Carlin's Seven Dirty Words

When Pacifica radio broadcast this routine, they recieved a letter of reprimand from the FCC.. and, well, they ended up landing a case in the fucking Supreme Court. Check it out: Federal Communications Commission v. Pacifica Foundation!

This second video is an interview with Frank Zappa about rock lyrics and how horrible they are. His response: "THEY'RE JUST WORDS" (hell yea!)

Thanks Jesse :)

The Beatles have an amazing song titled "The Word"

Say the word and you'll be free,

Say the word and be like me,

Say the word I'm thinking of,

Have you heard the word is love.

It's so fine, it's sunshine,

It's the word love.

(the geniuses that make up the beatles knew that words had an impact and they used music to spread that word. LOVE was their word of choice and it had one of the biggest inlfuences in history of music, thanks guys)

my project is more of a goal, and my goal is to help/force people to accept these forbodden words into their lives. if we acknowlegde that they are just words sometimes used in horrible ways, we can reduce freedom of speech issues, discrimination issues, hate, ignorance and so much more. a chnage such as this cannot happen over night, its probable that even our children will still fall victim to this crime of verbal freedom. if we trully accept the truth of our vocabulary speech might actually be free someday. this is only the first step, and a small one at that, but also SO HUGE because its up to the indivudual.
