Final project idea (deeroo)

Page history last edited by PBworks 3 years, 2 months ago

Thesis statement: To understand Economics is to understand rational thinking. Economics has become far too convoluted and there for has left many people wanting. Economics needs to be understood as basic choice making. The reason why this has become so convoluted is that it is truly basic and has been studied for hundreds of years by some of the greatest minds the world has ever seen (and funny how they never seem to be able to agree).

Audience: I want to appeal to those that are confused by economics and therefore the mere utterance of the word can cause them to pull their hair out. I want to leave the reader thinking, "It really is that simple?" This is mostly directed at a younger demographic in hopes that they will no longer be afraid of economics and therefore become more active in our national economy (and by that I mean don't just buy the goods, but instead invest in the companies making the goods).

Example: Adam Smith (the father of modern economics) said that if every man does what is best for himself then the whole team will be better off in the end. John Nash refutes this claim while in a bar with his friends and therefore came up with game theory. Who is right? Both. The context in which the team is playing determines which rules the teams can follow. In the U.S. John Nash's theory is illegal because companies working together is considered a trust which was outlawed through the Anti-trust laws and therefore American companies follow Smith's idea of look out for number one. In other nations where there are not many companies it makes more sense for them to work together in there common goal.
